About the Role
Medical Laboratory Services (MLS) is committed to maintaining excellence and reliability in all laboratory operations. We are seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Laboratory Technician to support the functionality and efficiency of our laboratory facilities.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing laboratory equipment, installations, and systems. You will play a critical part in ensuring smooth technical operations, coordinating maintenance activities, and supporting laboratory staff in the effective use of equipment, all while contributing to the organization’s quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Management and Maintenance
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on laboratory instruments and installations.
- Record and track maintenance activities in the maintenance management system.
- Identify, report, and follow up on equipment malfunctions or technical issues.
- Coordinate and supervise external suppliers performing work on laboratory equipment or facilities.
- Review and verify the quality of supplier-performed maintenance or repairs.
- Request and follow up on quotations for maintenance, repair, and replacement activities.
- Maintain effective communication with suppliers and technical service providers.
- Provide technical guidance and support to laboratory personnel.
- Advise management on modifications or improvements to facilities, systems, and processes.
- Support the Technical Services team in carrying out specialized maintenance tasks.
- Serve as the Facility Coordinator’s substitute during periods of absence.
- Ensure timely maintenance of the organization’s vehicle fleet and technical infrastructure.
- Contribute to internal quality improvement and development initiatives.
- Actively participate in organization-wide technical and operational projects.
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technical Services or a comparable technical field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in a laboratory or healthcare environment.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance and asset management systems, and proficiency with related software tools.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
