Bilirubine

Naam bepaling: Bilirubine Eenheid: Semikwantitatief (-, Â±, +) Referentiewaarden: negatief Klinische betekenis: Urinemonsters worden op de aanwezigheid van bilirubine gescreend door gebruik te maken van urine teststrips die voorzien zijn van reagenspads voor verschillende urinebestanddelen. Bilirubine reageert met een diazoniumzout tot een roodachtigbruine azo-kleurstof. Bilirubine wordt na glucuronidering in de lever via de gal in het maag-darmkanaal uitgescheiden. Bij intra- en extrahepatisch afsluiting (virale hepatiden en afsluitingsicterus komt deze geconjugeerde bilirubine in de urine terecht. In deze gevallen is de bilirubine reactie positief.
